McLaren Vale Pruning Championship - Friday August the 1st, 2014 - Rules

The McLaren Vale Pruning Competition is back. 

Friday August the 1st, 2014

Willunga High School Vineyard (Entry via Gaffney Rd) - 3pm Competition Starts.

Hats were mandatory at the 1923 competition at Reynella.

Gather your best pruners for a test of pruning speed and accuracy as judged by the ‘Legends of McLaren Vale.’ Who is the best?

Competitors can register on the day before kick off at 3pm.

There is a BBQ and drinks for competitors and spectators. Come one, come all.

Pruning Competition Rules

1. Two-Bud Spurs Only,
2. Clean cuts, no 'butts',
3. No damaged spurs,
4. Upward pointed spurs where possible,
5. Spacing important without being necessary,
6. Wire and vine clean of prunings,

Pruners time = Time taken to prune three panels + 5 seconds added for each mistake.
